[提要]
由於電腦科技的進步與通訊技術的發達H，利用資訊科技來創造服務品質，提升產業競爭力，乃是時勢所趨。 面對整個零售業的變革，如何導入各項新式資訊科技技術 ，極為重要。 本研究旨在探討，於當今提倡商業自動化的潮流下，資訊科技所扮演的角色及國內零售業界對此資訊科技的 因應之道。實證研究針對零售業四種業態進行問卷調查，並對四家業者進行訪談，以瞭解國內零售業電腦化決策之 相闆課題。
本研究之結論如下：
1．零售業自動化投資決策考慮因素，整體而言較偏重提升 作業效率，以降低成本、及提升管理決策品質。 2．零售業界對實施P0S系統效益的看法，較偏向能獲得訂貨的基本資料、節省行政處裡人力、及加快結帳速度等。 3．影響零售業自動化成功因素中，公司高階主管的支持與具有正確的認知，至為重要。而政府對商業自動化環境的 建置與支援，亦為重要因素。
4．零售業界未來提高電腦化、自動化的發展，極受該業界 資訊部門相關主管之重視。 本研究之結果可提供零售業界在電腦化決策上之參考，並作為政府相關部門推動商業自動化十年計畫之施政方 針。

ABSTRACT
In the era of advanced computer science and technology, we must swim with the tide of irresistible tide of upgrading service quality and strengthen competitive position by means of information-related technology. In the face of the inevitable reform of retail industry, adoption of a variety of modern information technology is indispensable.
This study is intended to probe into what a role the information-related technology should play under the compulsory trend of commercial automation and how our retailers shall deal with such trend. Through experimental research, we surveyed four retail lines through questionnaire and personally interview four retail firms to make sure of their view points about retail computerization.
Highlights of findings brought up by the study include:
1. Factors the retailers take into account in the investment in retail automation, in an overall points of view, they are more inclined to raising efficiency in an attempt to bring down cost and boost the quality of managerial policies.
